A duct slice configuration is used to route piping or other utilities past a mechanical duct while maintaining airflow area. The duct transitions with a fifteen-degree slope on either side of the obstruction. The sliced section spans twelve to twenty-four inches in length. The maximum depth reduction is limited to thirty-three percent of the original duct dimension D.
