A wide flange beam connects to a hollow structural section column using a one-sided connection sized per schedule. A typical one-half inch plate is welded to the members, maintaining a one-quarter inch clearance to the edge of the plate where it occurs. Welds are specified as typical on four sides per the structural schedule, with flush weld finishing applied where indicated. Centerline alignments are maintained between the hollow structural section column and the connecting plates.
