An air handling unit condensate connection utilizes a P-trap sized as scheduled with a removable cleanout cap and a primer vent extending six inches above the trap level. The downstream drain line slopes at one-eighth inch per foot and terminates in an indirect connection to waste with an air gap meeting plumbing code requirements of one-inch minimum or two times the pipe diameter. Trap dimensions H and X are determined by fan type, where blow-through fans require H equal to one-half inch and X equal to fan discharge pressure, and draw-through fans require H equal to fan inlet pressure plus one inch and X equal to fan inlet pressure.
