A water piping system venturi meter installation requires a minimum straight pipe distance of seven pipe diameters upstream and four pipe diameters downstream of the venturi device to ensure a valid pressure drop reading. The venturi must be oriented in the direction of water flow and installed to allow unobstructed access to the read-out hose attachment.
