A supply duct connects to a branch via a volume damper equipped with a locking hand quadrant and a standoff handle for externally insulated ducts. The rigid duct is supported by typical hangers and transitions to a round, externally insulated sheet metal duct that feeds the ceiling diffuser. The elbow maintains a radius-to-diameter ratio of greater than 1.5, with transitions provided for square neck grilles as required. The diffuser is installed flush with the ceiling, with insulation applied per project specifications. Visible interior duct surfaces are painted flat black, and rigid ductwork is mandated for critical care areas including operating and delivery rooms.
