Three-eighths inch thick stiffener plates are welded to each side of a steel beam web per plan. An extended plate is provided as required for beam connections. One-quarter inch fillet welds attach the stiffener plates to the beam web and flanges typically. Larger connection plates and welds are used as may be required by the beam connection schedule.
