An insulated rectangular duct rests on a structural steel cross member supported by the general contractor, with all work above the cross member executed by the mechanical contractor. A three-inch wide fourteen gauge galvanized holddown strap secures the insulated duct from above, anchored down to the support framing. The top of the duct is pitched with the center as the highest point to prevent water puddling.
