A natural gas pipe is suspended from an open web steel bar joist using a threaded rod and a clevis hanger assembly. The threaded rod attaches to the top chord of the bar joist using a beam clamp or approved method. The gas pipe is supported by a clevis hanger and positioned above the bottom chord of the joist typically. An oversized clamp is provided to allow for thermal movement in the hanger. Alternatively, a U-clamp is bolted directly to the bottom chord of the joist as shown in the elevation view.
