The exhaust duct is secured to the kitchen hood using a one-inch by one-inch by three-sixteenths-inch steel angle. This angle is attached to the duct with a continuous perimeter weld. A high-temperature hood exhaust gasket or sealant is placed between the angle and the hood flange to ensure an airtight seal. The assembly is fastened together with bolts, washers, and nuts, with weld studs or bolts spaced at each corner and at a minimum of every four inches along the perimeter.
