An exterior wall assembly terminates at a thermally improved aluminum door head with a square-edge wood panel finish over furring strips and vertical zees. Insulation is installed between the zees over five-eighths-inch sheathing, backed by six-inch metal stud framing with batt insulation and a vapor retarder. A fluid-applied air and water barrier laps and seals at the bent metal flashing with an insect screen. The interior features wood blocking and required wall finishes along with ceiling construction as occurs. A mitered square-edge wood trim is fastened to an angle with required shims above the specified aluminum door leaf.
