Cast-in-place concrete stairs feature an 18-inch tread with a 6-inch riser and a 1/4-inch bullnose at the nosing. A number 4 rebar is placed at the stair nosing for edge reinforcement, while additional reinforcing is provided per structural drawings. A 1/2-inch expansion joint separates the stair structure from adjacent surfaces. The stair assembly bears on a compacted crushed aggregate base over compacted subgrade.
