Two vehicular grade concrete slabs meet at an expansion joint with a maximum one-quarter inch gap and a watertight seal. The joint features one-half inch diameter by twelve inch smooth slip dowels set in place and greased on both ends, spaced at twelve inches on center typically. The top of the expansion joint is caulked, and the surfaces must conform flush within a forty-inch thick sport court material layer by Mondo or concrete paving and sport court paint over concrete paving resting on a six-inch thick concrete slab. Compacted subbase supports the concrete slabs.
