Standard base plate connections utilize anchor bolts or threaded rods set into concrete. The assembly includes a base plate secured by heavy hex nuts over a bed of grout above the top of concrete. Anchor bolts and threaded rods require a minimum embedment length of twelve inches per plan and a minimum projection of four inches unless otherwise noted. Standard anchors are specified as three-quarters of an inch in diameter meeting ASTM F1554 Grade 36, with high-strength applications requiring Grade 55. Heavy hex nuts conform to ASTM A563 Grade A unless otherwise noted.
