The shrub trunk emerges above a root ball set in native soil surrounded by a prepared soil mix pit sized one and one-half times the width of the root ball. The root ball soil remains uncompacted to settle naturally to the finished grade. A three-inch berm is tightly compacted in place to form a watering basin at the surface. Rock or mulch covers the planting area, and grow power plant tabs are installed per manufacturer recommendations within the soil mix.
