A one and one-half inch diameter blackened steel pipe vertical post is anchored into a core-drilled hole in concrete that is one inch larger than the outside diameter of the post. The anchor depth is equal to four times the railing diameter. The annular space is filled with non-shrink grout and sealed at the top with sealant. A one-quarter inch thick blackened steel collar matches the post finish at the surface.
