Two structural steel wide-flange beams meet at a moment connection utilizing top and bottom moment plates fabricated from Fy = 50 KSI steel sized per schedule. The beam flanges are tied across the joint with moment plates secured by seven-eighths inch diameter A490-SC slip-critical bolts configured with two rows of three bolts on each end and a minimum three-inch bolt spacing. A web connection featuring specified bolts ties the vertical webs together, leaving a half-inch maximum gap between beam ends. Fillet welds of quarter-inch size connect the plates according to the engineering design.
