Wood joists bear against subpurlins secured with an "F" hanger and sixteen-penny nails with quantities specified by the manufacturer. Subpurlins consist of two-by-six Number two or better Douglas fir, with two-by-eight or three-by-six members used where required by plans or details. Wood nailers support the roof sheathing above. Bridging is provided as detailed by the joist manufacturer.
