A Rain Bird RWS root watering system is installed adjacent to a plant root ball within a tree basin, set flush with the finish grade or top of mulch. The assembly consists of a 4-inch wide by 36-inch long rigid basket weave canister connected via a 12-inch swing assembly and a PVC Schedule 40 tee or elbow to a PVC or polyethylene lateral pipe. A 1-GPM bubbler and 4-inch locking grate complete the top of the unit, with an optional sock used for sandy soils. The canister is filled with pea gravel before locking the lid, and additional gravel is added underneath in hard or clay soils for infiltration.
