A cold-formed steel stud brace is oriented perpendicular to a concrete slab on metal deck. The 600S162-54 stud brace is spaced at a maximum of 4 feet on center, extending from a metal stud partition up to the overhead deck structure. Where the brace length exceeds 8 feet up to a maximum length of 12 feet, an additional 600S162-54 stud is attached using two number 10 sheet metal screws at 12 inches on center. A continuous 400S162-54 backing stud is provided for connection to the vertical stud without a kicker, secured with two number 12 sheet metal screws. Three number 12 sheet metal screws minimum are specified for the base connection at the vertical metal stud per plan.
