A vine is planted in an amended soil mix with a minimum depth of one foot six inches ripped into the existing undisturbed subgrade. A nursery wood stake is installed alongside the vine to train it to climb the wall or trellis structure, with a minimum clearance of one foot four inches. Drip irrigation is provided for watering the vine. The nursery stick is mounted in the hole with the vine to train it to climb the wall and is removed once the vine is attached.
