A sprinkler head is installed adjacent to a concrete element with a minimum one-inch clearance above the finish grade. The associated trench contains a PVC lateral line and a PVC mainline bedded in two inches of sand or rock-free soil surrounded by compacted backfill, with five inches of topsoil in lawn areas. Tracer wires are taped to the side of the main line at ten-foot intervals. The layout maintains specific vertical depths and a two-inch horizontal separation between utility lines.
