Concrete paving joints include a one-half-inch by three-quarter-inch tooled contraction joint, a four-inch typical depth expansion joint with premolded filler recessed one-half-inch from the surface, and an expansion joint at vertical surfaces utilizing three-eighths-inch expansion material, a backer rod, and traffic caulk joint sealant to match the concrete color with seeded silica sand. An expansion joint at the vertical surface provides a one-inch minimum clearance at the stucco wall base. A general note requires providing an expansion joint at all vertical surfaces and backs of curbs.
