The finish grade is topped with three to four inches of bark mulch or mineral mulch over a twenty-four inch amended topsoil layer containing three inches of compost incorporated to an eight inch depth. Below the post-amended layer, the subsoil is scarified to a six inch depth twenty-seven to twenty-eight inches below the finish grade. The entire profile rests on undisturbed subsoil.
