A shrub is centered within a planting pit dug to a width two times the diameter of the container. The rootball is surrounded by prepared soil as specified and native soil or backfill placed per plan. Twenty-one gram 20-10-5 fertilizer tablets are embedded in the soil at a rate of one per one gallon container and two per five gallon container. A layer of mulch as specified is applied over the pit surface, and finish grade is established relative to the surrounding landscape. Irrigation lines are positioned per plan adjacent to the rootball zone.
