A pot planting detail presents both section and plan views of a shrub planted in a pot. The shrub rootball is set with its crown one inch above the finished grade, surrounded by planting mix and topped with a two-inch layer of decorative gravel. The interior pot surfaces feature waterproofing, filter fabric, drainage fill, and a three-inch diameter perforated drainage pipe connected to a three-inch diameter drainage pipe inspection tube. A three-inch diameter black flat drain grate is positioned with the top of the grate two inches above the finished grade, explicitly noted not to be used for surface drainage. A planter drainage hole is located at the base of the pot for water discharge.
