The installation requires Schedule 40 PVC pipe sleeves routed beneath hardscape features with permanent physical markings at sleeve locations. Lateral pipes maintain a minimum twelve-inch cover while mainlines require twenty-four inches below finished grade. Trenches are backfilled with native soil compacted to ninety percent optimum density, keeping the material within four inches of the sleeve entirely free of rocks and stones larger than one-quarter inch in diameter. Main or submain irrigation pipes rest on four inches of bedding material over existing soil with four-inch minimum side clearances, then backfilled and compacted after a forty-eight hour settlement period.
