This concrete assembly features a hinge slab bearing on compacted base rock alongside a non-supported slab. An expansion joint with a one-half-inch felt joint separates the slabs, which are joined by number five dowels spaced at twelve inches on center at four feet in length. The structural concrete slab is supported by void form material and base rock compacted to ninety percent minimum. Reinforcement includes number four bars at twelve inches on center each way and two number five bars typically.
