Brick pavers sit on a three-quarter-inch mortar bed over a four-inch reinforced concrete slab and a six-inch Class II aggregate base above subgrade. The concrete substrate is reinforced with number three rebar at two feet on center in both directions, centered in the concrete slab. Grout joints measure three-eighths of an inch, plus or minus one-sixteenth of an inch, in natural gray color and are flush with the brick pavers. An expansion joint with caulk and backer rod matches the grout joint color and spans between expansion joints at two hundred to two hundred fifty square feet. A slip dowel spans across the expansion joint within the concrete slab.
