Cold-formed steel horizontal and vertical metal studs connect to a wide-flange structural beam sized per plan using a two-inch by six-inch maximum, sixteen-gauge bent plate at each horizontal metal stud. The bent plate welds to the underside of the structural beam flange with a one-eighth-inch fillet weld of two-inch length typically, maintaining a half-inch maximum clearance typical. Two number-ten sheet metal screws fasten the horizontal studs to the bent plate with a two-inch minimum and six-inch maximum dimension.
