The assembly rests on a compacted trench bottom compacted to ninety-five percent dry density with all loose material removed. A perforated round underdrain pipe with a gasket cap is bedded in coarse sand with a minimum of three inches of clearance on the bottom and sides and a three-inch minimum layer above. The trench is filled with athletic field rootzone mix extending nine inches up to a top layer of seeded or sod turf. Both the pipe and surrounding layers slope per the civil plans.
