This shrub planter assembly is constructed over a structural slab with an applied topping slab sloped to drain. The planter walls enclose planting soil mixed with plant fertilizer tablets surrounding the rootballs of shrubs featuring watering basins. A four-inch diameter perforated rigid polyvinyl chloride drainage pipe, wrapped in a saran cloth sock and fitted with a removable threaded polyvinyl chloride cap featuring three quarter-inch drilled holes, provides sub-surface drainage. Drainage gravel with a two-inch minimum thickness mounded over the drain is wrapped in filter fabric.
