Nominal two-by-four wood deck boards bear directly on two-inch square hollow structural section members or other approved supports. The wood boards are fastened to the supporting members using countersunk wood screws with the screw heads recessed below the surface and filled with flush wood plugs. Adjacent deck boards maintain a typical one-eighth-inch joint spacing.
