An irrigation trench profile details the burial depth and separation requirements for PVC mainline and lateral pipes. A two-inch layer of sand or rock-free soil surrounds all pipe bedding. Control wires tape to the side of the PVC mainline at ten-foot intervals on center. The trench includes a six-inch vertical spacing between the mainline and lateral line, with a two-inch horizontal separation. Compacted backfill fills the intermediate trench depth up to a five-inch deep layer of topsoil beneath the finish grade in lawn areas.
