Concrete paving slabs are separated by a one-half-inch expansion joint filled with one-quarter-inch expansion material per specifications. A dowel spans the joint to transfer load between the concrete paving slabs. The top of the joint features a one-eighth-inch tooled radius and is sealed with joint sealant containing seeded silica sand in a color matching the concrete.
