An irrigation wire splice is housed inside a 10-inch valve box with a cover, such as a Rain Bird VB-10RND, set flush with the finish grade or top of mulch. The valve box rests on a minimum 4-inch depth of 3/4-inch washed gravel bed over brick supports at the base. Communication wires from the valves run into the box and connect using DB series wire connectors, specifically Rain Bird DBTWC25. The assembly provides secure underground housing and waterproofing for low-voltage irrigation control wiring splices.
