A heavy timber glulam beam connection utilizes a custom steel bucket assembly attached to a column or backing plate. The connection comprises a one-half-inch base plate, one-quarter-inch side plates, and five-eighth-inch shear plates on each side of the glulam beam at all bolt locations. The bucket features slotted holes above the maximum distance to the bottom of the glulam beam as shown, with equal spacing across the bolt group centered on the beam. A one-half-inch clearance is maintained to the top of the glulam beam.
