This landscape detail shows a soil preparation cross-section with specified mulch and soil amendments each placed two inches thick over a six-inch layer of topsoil. The finish grade is established at one inch below adjacent paving surfaces. The existing subsoil requires ripping and tilling to a minimum depth of six inches prior to topsoil installation. All rock, debris, and foreign matter over one inch in diameter must be removed from the top twelve inches of soil.
