This trench section details a utility duct bank installation in a non-traffic area with a minimum 36-inch cover and a 48-inch maximum depth. The conduit rests upon a 4-inch sand bedding layer inside the trench excavation, with sand backfill free of rocks over 10 inches in diameter surrounding the bank. A warning tape is placed 12 inches above the duct bank beneath the roadside final grade. Sand shading of 6 or 12 inches is applied after compaction.
