Perennials are installed with the root flare positioned at finish grade over a prepared planting mix and sub-grade. Mulch is applied across the surface while maintaining a three-inch clearance zone around the plant base to prevent stem rot. A layer of filter fabric is placed below the mulch layer to separate materials and control weeds.
