New concrete paving abuts existing concrete paving over compacted subbase layers with a three-eighths-inch joint. Twelve-inch long slip dowels with sleeves are spaced twelve inches on center across the joint per specifications. The joint is finished with a filler strip, backer rod, sealant, and a typical one-quarter-inch radius at the surface. Mason sand is installed on top of the sealant.
