A transition between a four-inch concrete paving section and a placed rip rap slope requires subgrade preparation by site soil excavation along a defined new soil line relative to the existing soil profile. Rip rap stones are placed directly on the prepared subgrade with a five-foot minimum transition taper extending away from the paving edge.
