Pedestrian pavers are set in a three-quarter-inch mortar setting bed with one-eighth-inch fortified sand joints over a five-inch concrete slab reinforced with number four rebar at twelve inches on center both ways. The concrete slab rests on a five-inch compacted class two aggregate base per geotech over a compacted subgrade. The finish grade of the pavers is held one-half inch below the finish grade of adjacent paving. Paver edges require smooth curves and transitions, and the finish grade of pavers must not exceed one-eighth inch above adjacent pavers.
