An eighteen-inch wide gravel strip is retained by steel edging adjacent to concrete paving on one side and a planting bed with mulch on the other. A three-inch depth of gravel rests over compacted subgrade. Steel edging is anchored with vertical stakes extending into the subgrade. Concrete paving abuts the gravel bed edge.
