Concrete paving slabs meet across a three-eighths-inch isolation joint doweled with a sleeve at eighteen inches on center. The joint incorporates a filler strip, backer rod, and sealant with a typical one-quarter-inch radius at the top edge. Mason sand is installed on top of the sealant before the sealant cures. The paving rests on a graded base course as sized per plan.
