The court subgrade supports a four-inch aggregate base rock layer wrapped in Mirafi 140 filter fabric, topped with a fifty percent clay and fifty percent oyster shell mix compacted to ninety-five percent density and finished with a layer of oyster shell flour. A filter-fabric-wrapped perforated PVC drain rock pipe runs along the center of the subgrade beneath the court mix. The perimeter features two-by-six clearheart redwood headers reinforced with three continuous number four rebars embedded in concrete curbs. The redwood headers are secured with three-eighths by five-inch machine bolts embedded at thirty inches on center, fitted with countersunk hexagon nuts and washers to prevent protrusion past the board edge. Surrounding the court perimeter is adjacent gravel paving cell material over a two percent minimum cross slope.
