An irrigation trench profile shows a mainline and a lateral line installed within specified pipe bedding and backfill. Irrigation wiring runs beneath the mainline at the bottom of the trench with six inches of clearance to the trench floor. Specified pipe bedding surrounds the lower pipes, while specified backfill fills the upper portion of the trench to grade. The trench requires twelve inches minimum cover over the lateral line and eighteen inches minimum cover to finished grade. Sand backfill is provided by the electrical contractor where the trench is common.
