The tree rootball is placed on native subgrade within an excavation sized to twice the container size and backfilled with an amended soil mix. A 4-inch diameter perforated PVC pipe wrapped with filter fabric extends 6 feet below the container depth and connects to a 4-inch diameter black flat drain grate positioned 2 inches above finished grade. A 4-inch minimum height watering berm is constructed 12 inches wider than the rootball diameter. A mulch layer is applied over the backfill and kept 6 inches away from the base of the tree trunk.
