Concrete thrust blocks are placed against undisturbed soil at pipe fittings, tees, elbows, and valves to resist hydrostatic thrust forces in underground irrigation systems. All main lines are installed and tested according to manufacturer specifications. Thrust blocks are constructed using class 2000 psi ready-mix concrete poured directly against undisturbed soil, leaving pipe joints accessible. Concrete is allowed to cure for a minimum of five days prior to pressurizing the irrigation system.
