A saw cut joint in a concrete slab features a depth equal to one-quarter of the total slab thickness with a one-inch minimum. The sawcut must be performed perpendicular to strips within four hours of slab placement using the Soff-Cut procedure, and the joint is filled with epoxy sealant unless otherwise noted. Reinforcing steel remains continuous through the joint, positioned at the mid-depth of the slab for single layer configurations and at top and bottom with two-inch clearance for double layer configurations.
