A tree is installed in a plant pit featuring angled sides and a sloped bottom, surrounded by amended backfill and finish grade. A three-inch perforated PVC drain pipe wrapped in a fabric sock extends vertically beside the root ball with a minimum one-foot depth below grade. The top of the perforated pipe sits one inch below the mulch layer and is fitted with a slip-x-FIPT adapter and MIPT plug at grade.
